Healing Landscapes Workshop

Spring 2012
Starting date and time to be announced.

To the ancient Celts, the Oak tree was regarded as sacred. Their word for Oak was duir, meaning “door.” Thus, the Oak was thought of as a doorway into new realms of experience.

Our words can also be thought of as doorways. When written in a safe, supportive environment, our words can lead us to a deeper understanding of self, others, and nature, of which we are an integral part.

In Healing Landscapes, we offer a transformative approach to expressive writing, which includes:

  • Workshops of various lengths, including half-day, full-day, and weekly series. Watch for announcement of current format.
  • A safe place for you to write, listen, and share.
  • Poems, bibliographies, and other resources.

The Benefits to You

Words are like acorns. When nurtured by the sun, rain, and proper soil conditions, they can grow to become a magnificent grove of oaks, sustaining squirrels, wrens, and other forms of life.

Expressive writing can sustain you too. Among its benefits, it can help you relax, improve your mood, even boost your body’s immune system.

In Healing Landscapes, we utilize a variety of expressive writing experiences and techniques to:

  • Explore deeper aspects of self, others, and nature, while drawing closer to each.
  • Increase your sense of personal, community, and ecological identity.
  • Cultivate your own innate creativity, while witnessing that of others.

Poetry is a tool,
a net or trap to catch the present
a sharp edge
a medicine
or the little awl that unties knots.
– Gary Snyder
